Guide/Version-Specific Mod Recommendations

Existing Guides
2.10.0
2.2.9.1
2.2.9.2
3.0.0
Type a version string using the format indicated by the placeholder text below. Copy/paste the intended guide version from the "Existing Guides" table above (if it exists) into the field below. For unofficial user-created guides, use the format indicated by the placeholder text. Editors: Please DO NOT use wiki headings inside of custom Recommendations and also avoid using templates if at all possible! Template calls add to the max threshold, and headings mess up the guide ToC.

Recommendations

Requirements

  1. Be sure you have the latest version of DynDOLOD.
  2. TES5Edit
  3. PapyrusUtil-Modders Scripting Utility Functions
  4. STEP Texture Compilation
  5. Setup TES5Edit with "-o:" argument. Instructions are here.
  6. Be sure the following line is in your Skyrim.ini or DynDOLOD will not fully process:
[Archive]
sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa

Installation

  1. Download the main file outside Mod Organizer.
  2. Extract the contents of TES5Edit folder in the archive to the TES5Edit folder.
  3. In Mod Organizer, click the archive Archive MO.png button, select the downloaded archive, and click Open.
  4. At the installation dialog, right-click the Data directory, select Set data directory, and click [OK].
    • Additionally, drag the Docs directory into the Data directory beforehand, so the DynDOLOD documentation can be seen from within MO.

Generation

  6. Wait for the script to run and close TES5Edit when finished.
  7. Delete the contents of the Overwrite folder.
  8. Open up the output folder (C:\TES5LODGenOutput from the TES5Edit setup) and create an archive from the textures folder within.
  9. In Mod Organizer, click the archive Archive MO.png button, select the archive, and click Open. "STEP LOD Textures" is recommended as a name for the mod.
  10. Place it after DynDOLOD and activate it. Nothing should overwrite it.
  11. Run TES5Edit through Mod Organizer.
  12. Click [OK].
  13. Wait for "Background Loader: Finished" at the bottom of TES5Edit.
  14. Right-click on any plugin in the left pane and select Apply Script.
  15. In the drop-down box, choose DynDOLOD Worlds and click [OK].
  16. In Select Worlds, right click in the box and choose Select all.
  17. In Select Output Path, choose a location (it is recommended to use a folder on your desktop).
  18. Click Medium (or your preferred preset).
  19. Wait a really long time (generally between 30 minutes and 3 hours). Users with SSDs will take much less time even on High settings.
    • Watch a movie. Or read a book, because it is brain food.
    • Do NOT attempt to use TES5Edit while it works.
      Template:Notice Small
  20. Once the script is done, and assuming there are no errors, exit TES5Edit.
  21. At the prompt, make certain only DynDOLOD.esp is ticked and click [OK].
  22. Copy the output folder to the mods folder inside Mod Organizer. Make sure that nothing overwrites this mod in MO.
  23. Enable DynDOLOD.esp in the Plugins tab as well. Make sure to run LOOT before starting Skyrim and let LOOT sort the DynDOLOD.esp plugin now that the masters have been added to it.
